Back to school after 14 years..

I have always been fond of remembering past days especially good ones & the following story is about going 14 years back down memory lane. The occasion was official but the feeling was almost-not completely-like having a vacation in country side.

The training cum exam was planned to be an exciting get together of our batchmates & that was a nice change from the past tour when I was the only one from my state. But my approach towards studies was almost as casual as it was in the year 2008. (The story is available on this blog with the title 'India Dekha' inspired from MP tourism ads)

Meeting long lost friends on the train was the only excitement on the otherwise boring train route to Jabalpur. I still can't believe that all of us are past 40 years of age & most have teenage kids. But that's what life is - you keep thinking, planning, preparing, shaping, designing, organizing & it just happens. Anyway it was officially acknowledged that the tour is supposed to be a refreshing break in addition to the learning & we were excited for the additional part.

Now compared to the previous one this was a very short one & there was no scope of going for tourist attractions. Anyway we managed to arrange a trip to Bhedaghat which is quite close to Jabalpur. I was about to revisit the thrilling ride on very calm, very deep waters of Narmada surrounded by marble rocks. But this time the boatman was trying to fill the boat just like a shuttle rickshaw & that spooked me so I decided to skip the boating adventure & went off to capture the beautiful surroundings with the Sunset setting. Dhuandhar fall was also visited before concluding the trip.

A striking realization that hit me on the way back from Dhuandhar / Bhedaghat trip was that Jabalpur is much more than the cantonment area we relate it with.

Wet lands & Warm Vibes..

Lost in the labyrinth of the equity derivatives, I forgot to plan the Diwali vacation this year & got infinitely bored in the Diwali week. Anyway, it was over somehow & it was time to plan the Winter vacation. Being in my forties, these days I worry more about time than about bank balance. So a new tour operator & a new corner of India was selected for the winter vacation. Overnight journey by connecting flights was a terrible decision & the night spent at the airport has been stored in my memory for use whenever I may need to act miserable. The sleepless night was too slow to step aside & let us begin our journey to Kaziranga national park. Day 1 - Kaziranga Jeep Safari Kaziranga Jeep Safari Meghalaya literally means 'abode of clouds' & the clouds were ready to welcome us on the very first outing of the trip. There was no sign of rains on our journey to Kaziranga & so my raincoat stayed in the hotel just like the animals stayed away in their homes l...

INDIA DEKHA !!

Unbelievable ! I couldn't believe my eyes when i saw men carrying pessengers in their pedal rickshaw outside Jabalpur railway station. Night of September 21, 2008 had just begun and i was to begin my official tour cum on job study of Information technology in the heart of India. Honestly, i felt pain in my legs as that lean man carried me in his pedal-rickshaw. Anyway on reaching my hostel, i found myself lost in thoughts about the weeks ahead in an unknown region about a thousand kms. far from my residence. Worries of adjusting with the new routine made me forget that leg pain. Luckily my room partner was sweet and talkative like me and i knew from the day one that peace will prevail in the room. Ok, forget everything, you badly need a good sleep after the 24 hour journey - i told myself ! Its so fresh and chilled out - morning in the outskirts of the small town ! I almost fell in love with the place just for the blissful peace as i realized what i had been going through in past t...

Valley of the Gods via Queen of the hills

May the month of May never come again is the wish we make every year & yet it does come back with seemingly more power. The power we know we can only hide from - behind walls cooled by ACs/coolers or inside airconditioned cars. Staying out becomes bare minimum to save our skin but there comes a point when we miss the feel of the outside world & that makes an excellent excuse for a trip to a cool hill station. The wanderlust in me has become so overpowering that having no savings at all couldn't stop me from planning a summer escape away from the scorching heat. After the dull group tour of White desert, costly disappointment of Nainital-Corbett solo tour & distressing Jaisalmer group tour, I was extra cautious to avoid any fiasco this year. So the professional help & doubling of the budget was the right decision after all as the trip turned out to be a memorable one. May 7-9, 2025 Mock drills were the talk of the town all day & it was obviously the day one of re...
